Because of funding and inflation, the implementation of drinking water projects has stopped

Khartoum: Pulse News

The Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources, Professor Yasser Abbas, directed the formation of a mechanism to manage foreign funded drinking water projects.
During an inspection visit today to the Drinking Water and Sanitation Unit, the Minister listened to detailed reports from the Unit Director, Eng. Hisham Al-Amir, and the directors of the departments on the progress of performance in the drinking water projects being implemented in Port Sudan, Nyala, and Rahedi Al-Bardi, in addition to the six Iranian stations. The Director General of the Drinking Water Unit attributed the suspension of work in these projects to the scarcity of funding and the rise in prices due to inflation, pointing out that his administration continues contacts with the Ministry of Finance to find funding for a number of projects, taking into account the current inflation.
The meeting discussed a number of issues related to the unit’s performance, workers’ rights, and the memorandum of the unit’s steering committee.
