UNITAMS reveals the opinion of the United Nations on the elections in Sudan

The Prime Minister met Dr. Abdullah Hamdok, head of the United Nations Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS), and the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Volker Peretz and his accompanying delegation, yesterday, in the presence of the Political Adviser to the Prime Minister, Mr.

The two sides discussed the roles of the United Nations in implementing the peace agreement and the practical steps taken in this framework.

The political advisor to the Prime Minister said that the two sides also discussed Sudan’s participation in the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly to be held next September, and the interest of the United Nations Secretary-General to participate in a side event related to Sudan during the United Nations General Assembly.

The meeting dealt with the global interest, especially from Europe, to invest in Sudan, as one of the most important topics discussed is the issue of technical support from the United Nations regarding the upcoming elections in Sudan and the constitution-making process.
