Weapons, murder and taxes in Kalma camp…

The governor of the Darfur region, Commander Minni Arko Minawi, affirmed the regional government’s interest in the issue of the displaced, refugees and voluntary return. Minawi acknowledged that the suffering of the displaced and the injustice and violations committed against them continue. Minawi said in his meeting with the leaders and sheikhs of the camps for the displaced, that the remnants and effects of war and the problems of a regime that controlled the country (30) years are difficult. He solved it soon. He added, “I do not have a Moses stick to solve the cases in one day, but with your cooperation, we will solve the cases and move forward.” Minawi, the secretary of the state government, directed him to sit with representatives of all the camps to discuss their problems regarding the crimes that occur inside the camps, open complaints and arrest the perpetrators. Minawi said that there are weapons inside the camps. The displaced are not acceptable, the camps are demilitarized zones, and he promised to work with the state government to resolve them and disarm the camps.

Supporting displaced youth and women…

With regard to the complaints of the displaced about harassment in housing by people who have contracts, he said that the camps remain until the causes of displacement cease. He directed the formation of a committee of urban planning, the prosecution and judges to study the matter and submit a report as soon as possible to decide on it. Manawi pledged to prevent injustice, violations with weapons and assault on the rights of others in the joint forces He added that the injustice is clear and cannot continue, and Minawi promised to form a committee of advisors, legal and informal to investigate the complaints of the displaced in agriculture, open complaints and prosecute the perpetrators. With the support of youth and women for production, through production associations, Minawi said he will train the women component in the police camps through the security arrangements clause.
